During President Trump’s trip across Asia this week, the Trump administration announced trade agreements with Malaysia and Cambodia, along with plans for future deals with Thailand and Vietnam. Although these announcements are not legally binding, they mark meaningful progress in Trump’s efforts to reduce trade barriers for U.S. goods overseas.

The United States announced it had signed agreements with Thailand and Vietnam, laying the groundwork for more comprehensive trade deals in the future.

Under the agreements, both countries committed to reducing tariffs on nearly all U.S. goods, easing regulations on American companies, and adopting several U.S. standards for vehicles and other products.

In return, the United States pledged to identify certain products that would be exempt from its existing tariffs, which otherwise remain at 20% for Vietnam and 19% for Cambodia.
