After two days of detailed talks in Stockholm, the U.S. and China have agreed in principle to seek a further extension of their 90-day tariff truce, which is scheduled to expire on August 12, 2025. No final deal has been reached yet—it’s up to President Trump to sign off on the extension.
Other Nations falling short of an extension, the August 1 deadline looms—by then, the U.S. may impose steep tariffs on countries without agreements. China’s deadline is August 12, giving a bit more breathing room.
Current rates are being maintained:
-
U.S. imports from China: 30%
-
China’s tariffs on U.S. goods: 10%
These rates are part of the truce agreed upon in May and June
